Hong Kong Style Porridge

Friday, October 14th, 2005

If u’re looking for Hong Kong style (fine texture) porridge, this is the place you should never miss out ! Situated beside a busy road, Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, the stall sells three types of porridge which are fish, chicken and pork intestine porridge.

All of the three has its own specialty. For instance, the fish used are very fine sliced of raw fish which will be cook once you dip it or pour it in the “boiling” porridge. For the pork intestine porridge, you can ask for additional minced pork balls or deep fry intestine! In addition, the steamed chicken with oyster sauce is also tantalising (ask for more gravy so that u can mix it in the porridge)! The porridge texture u find here is very very fine and has a sweetened taste, i wonder whether they have added in chicken stock !!

Penang Village

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005

A recent hit chain of restaurants with nyonya & penang offerings in an oriental / nyonya / chinese fusion environment ie. high class hawker restaurant (that’s how I describe to my foreign friends). My usual orders are prawn mee, char kway teow (RM7.90), ice kacang (RM5.50)/ chendol and assam laksa. Ordering the nyonya dishes for a proper meal is also nice. Choosing the ‘recommended’ choices will be a sure hit eg. Chicken kapitan (RM13.90), samosa, brocolli and prawn (RM14.90), Cincalok omelette (RM8.90), Yin yang Garoupa (RM48). Lunch crowd is to the brim compared to dinner.

Claypot Chicken

Monday, October 3rd, 2005

This stall sells a few types of claypot chicken … The one that i love most is cook with oyster sauce, thick soya sauce, some ginger slice … and some salon leaves … !! it’s really superb !! The aunty who sells it takes about 10 to 15 min to cook it so that the chic can “absorbs” all the ingredients smell and makes it own! Not to forget the kiccup that comes with it … they added some garlic in it and it goes well with the chicken!

Their kampung chicken with wine also not bad! wine lover should try this … besides, they also have spicy soup and vege with oyster sauce.

What is shown in the pic is my fav claypot chicken which is mentioned earlier !
